Testimonials

Getting ready for camp and being at camp just gives you this amazing feeling that you cant ever find anywhere else. I always like to call Lone Tree my home away from home. (annie)

VWhen you go to camp you always make new friendships. It is so much fun; you get to be yourself and learn about your Creator. (katie)

I went to camp to have fun, meet new people and to grow closer to god. I learned that no matter what other people are doing you shouldn’t conform to the world and should just trust God no matter is going on in your life. (sam)

Camp is amazing!! I learned that every sin is the same in Gods eyes. I took a lot of my friends for the first time, I would go back anytime! (teagan)

Lone Tree is fun and relaxing, its such an amazing chance to give everyone a little time to get closer to Christ and also to become part of a new kind of family... a camp family! (lauren, CIT)

Katelyn

Katelyn loves the Lord! She is one of many young adults that ACK is currently discipling; she regularly attends HPCC and an ACK Bible study every week. One of the core values of ACK is giving Christians the freedom to try on children’s ministry. Katelyn has been a Counselor in Training (CIT) and this year she felt called to try on the First Aide role, that we call “Nurse”. But her attitude is not one of playing the role of nurse, she took her assignment very seriously. Before camp, she took two classes in first aid and CPR. She inventoried and restocked the first aid supplies. She called me before camp and said she had reviewed the registration forms of the campers and because some children had allergies, asked that we get an EpiPen. We really don’t have very many injuries at camp, but this summer one camper fell out of a tree and broke her arm. Katelyn rushed to her side and gave her such loving and careful attention that the camper did not want to let go of Katelyn’s hand. After camp, Katelyn took the other camper from that family home with her, until her sister was discharged from the hospital. What a wonderful example of a Christian’s response to trouble! The opportunity to serve us, as camp Nurse, has encouraged Katelyn to pursue medical missions in the future.

Staff Evaluations

Brayley

“I love Brayley!”, so many of the staff remarked on the Evaluation Form. She is so sensitive and caring, she notices the person who needs a hug or an encouraging word and she wants to help. When we first met Brayley 4 years ago, her mother called and asked for a campership because one of her family members was in prison. She was so thin it scared me and there were deep dark circles under her eyes. The first night of the first week she asked for a Bible and said she had never heard about this before. The staff surrounded her with love and attention and she eagerly accepted it all. Each year she returned and we watched her faith grow. She is in Junior High now and a regular attender at HPCC because an ACK CIT picks her up every week. When interviewed by the Casper newspaper she told them her faith journey began at camp and she has never been the same. It’s her plan to be a CIT when she is old enough and until then she is praising God every day!

John Little Bear

John is a camper from Wounded Knee and this was his first time at camp. HPCC has sent Junior High Youth on Mission Trips to Wounded Knee for several years and ACK is providing an opportunity to extend that ministry through a week of camp. John’s counselor said he is a really smart kid! He taught his group a lot about his ways and what some words mean in his language. He had a great time at camp and is sure he wants to come back next year. I talked with his parents a couple of times during camp because he had nightmares that badly frightened him and kept him (and his counselor) awake. The staff made a commitment to pray for him that he would not have to suffer from nightmares. We all rejoiced when God answered our prayers on Thursday night; John prayed with his counselor that Jesus would save him. Praise God, no nightmares that night!
